“If I hadn’t gotten the AssiStep stair aid I wouldn’t be able to stay with my wife in the 2nd floor bedroom” - Edmund (77)

Estimated reading time 3 min. Published 20.06.2018
The AssiStep stair aid was installed in Edmund farm house as one of the home adjustments that will help him living at home. 77-year-old Edmund has lived in his traditional farmhouse his whole life, and the last thing he wants is to be forced to move. After making accomodations to the house, and with the help of his wife, he can now manage daily life in his own home.

“Luckily I can keep living at home - it is very important to me.”
Edmund

Edmund lives in a typical “trønderlån” - a kind of traditional farmhouse - on a pleasant farm, within the forests a number of miles from Snåsa town. The distance between neighbors here is vast, but the wish to keep on living in his own home outweighs most other concerns.

In the past, Edmund used to go for long walks through forests and wilderness with his dogs. Unfortunately, his health has eventually made this more challenging. Edmund suffered a stroke 10 years ago, and for this reason has difficulties with balance and mobility in- and outside home.

  • “Luckily I can keep living at home - it is very important to me.”

When we visit Edmund and his wife he has been using the AssiStep for about one year, and he has plenty of praise to give.

  • “We have had many locals who have visited us to see the AssiStep, since I was the first one in Snåsa who had it installed. After I had it installed, there are now several others in Snåsa who have it in their own home. I find that a bit of a fun thing to think about. It is so smart!”

The experiences Edmund shares are all of the good kind. He walks the stairs three to four times each day, stays active, and can still use the 2nd floor bedroom together with his wife.

  • “Without the stair aid AssiStep in the stairs it wouldn’t work. I struggle with my balance, so having something steady and safe to hold on to is a great help, particularly on the way down.”
